2026 Scholarship

Roger P. Jefferson Memorial Scholarship presented by the Olde Dominion Agricultural Foundation

APPLICATION WINDOW OPENS FEBRUARY 1ST, 2026

Introduction:

The Roger P. Jefferson Memorial Scholarship is presented by the Olde Dominion Agricultural Foundation to honor the legacy and lifelong commitment of Roger P. Jefferson to agriculture, education, and community service. This scholarship is designed to support students who demonstrate a strong interest in the agricultural industry, a dedication to their local community, and a desire to further their education beyond high school.  

 

Purpose: 

To provide one $1000 scholarship to a deserving area youth that has need of financial assistance, is active in supporting the community in which they live, and show an eagerness to achieve through knowledge of the agricultural industry by intending to pursue post-high school course of study at either college or university or other post-secondary educational institution. 

 

      1. DEADLINE for scholarship applications is Friday, May 1st, 2026, 5:00 p.m. (No exceptions). 

      2. Refer to criteria below for eligibility requirements. 

      3. Refer to the application process below for a list of the supporting documents needed (i.e., reference                      letters, evidence of GPA, etc.). Incomplete applications will not be considered. 

      4. If any question does not apply to you in this application please fill the space with “N/A.” 

      5. Type or print legibly. Illegible applications will be returned to the applicant. 

      6. You will be notified by mail in May regarding the status of your application. 

      7. If you have any questions about the application please contact a member of Olde Dominion Agricultural

          Foundation Board of Directors. 

      8. Scholarship funds will only be awarded to the student’s college or university account upon evidence of

          registration in an accredited post-secondary institution. 

 

Criteria: 

1. Applicants must be a resident of Bedford, Campbell, Franklin, Halifax, Henry or Pittsylvania County in Virginia. 

2. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior or enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in the year of the scholarship award. 

3. Applicants must demonstrate positive-impact involvement – in the complete sense – consistent with capacity and circumstances and/or significant improvement/success in scholarship and community involvement, determined through letters of recommendation. 

 

Application Process: 

Applicant must submit the following items: 

  1. Completed application form 

  2. Two (2) letters of recommendations from the applicant's choice of high school teachers, administrators, counselors, employers, or individuals with significant knowledge of the applicant's experience and involvement.   3. An official and recent high school and/or college/university transcript with cumulative grade point average and a class standing rank. 

  4. Personal essay. In your essay, please answer the questions of what have you done to earn this award and what the effect this award will have on your future.
